Haley’s time on Earth was too short, but her story will continue.

More About Haley’s Comet of Change
Our Haley’s Comet spay and neuter fund has already altered 176 dogs and cats this year. This potentially prevented 10,560 unnecessary offspring into the dog/cat overpopulation problem.
Stop The Suffering launched Haley's Comet of Change in 2021, a program to enhance and fund community spay/neuter to address overpopulation and prevent others from losing their life too soon to preventable cancer.
Haley came to Stop the Suffering with broken bones, countless buckshot, and a myriad of health issues due to overbreeding and neglect. Despite her recovery from many of the issues, the veterinary care, and love from her mom and the strangers she met, we couldn’t save her from the mammary cancer that spread aggressively to her lungs.
Haley was fostered by Ruthanne, the eyes behind the lens of Lady Grace Photography. As a rescue advocate, she was already passionate about promoting spay and neuter for the health of pets. Ruthanne became even more committed to educating others about the benefits of spay and neuter.
At the same time, we were hoping to expand our community outreach to make spay and neuter surgeries accessible to more people. Ruthanne worked with us so we can continue Haley’s legacy. Her light now shines on.
If you buy a puppy please insist on seeing its mother, if they won't let you please reconsider, chances are there is a Haley suffering in the background. Discuss spay and neuter with your vet, there's a very good chance Haley would have lived a full life had she been spayed, or if she had gotten to us sooner. But she got to us. And although it hurts she left us so soon, we are grateful for the short time we had and the lessons she'll continue to teach, and the changes she's inspiring.
